Close Racing Supply located at 5449 PA-446, Eldred, PA 16731 has inked their fourth season of support for the NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series! The Close Racing Supply NYPENN IMCA Modified Series is looking at another great season for the IMCA Modifieds in the NY & PA region with eleven races set to be run 2024. Close Racing Supply started in 1996 and is currently going on their 28th year in business servicing the racing industry. You can check them out at closeracingsupply.com or by giving them a call or stopping by their large showroom and warehouse. Close Racing Supply has been an IMCA Modified supporter dating back to the late 90s when local tracks like Woodhull Raceway, Freedom Raceway, and Bradford Speedway ran them weekly. Our little area has produced some talented racers in that era from that division including Randy Hall, Sean Lias, Rich Michael, Greg Oakes, Mike Smith, Kevan Cook, and many others to name.
We spoke briefly with Joel Smith of Close Racing Supply about the series and some history of Close Racing Supply. “Since the demise of the Empire State Series years ago there has been a void in IMCA Modified traveling type races. Jake came along a few years ago and breathed some life back into IMCA Modifieds in the NY/PA area by starting a similar series to the Empire State Series. CRS has since been a supporter and sponsor of the new series.” stated Joel Smith owner of Close Racing Supply. “IMCA Modifieds have one of the largest car counts across the country and are a big part of CRS’s customer base. Although the NY/PA area is diluted with many options for modified racing Jake has been able to bring good car counts and a following to the series. CRS hopes to continue their relationship with the series and its group of talented racers into 2024 and beyond.”
“We are working diligently and hard with the tracks to finalize all minor details before we release the finalized schedule for 2024.” says Jake Maynard director of Eastern Region for IMCA and Promoter of the NYPENN IMCA Modified Series. “We are excited to continue our support with Joel Smith at Close Racing Supply, he has been beside us each step of the way in this journey with some guidance and also helping the drivers of the series also. Joel is a great help to the class and the entire racing world as we see his parts all over cars in the United States.”
“We have seen some new interest for the class in recent years and this offseason we have seen new drivers coming into the class and joining the series. I would like to formally say welcome to the class and we hope you enjoy and have fun with us!” said Maynard.
Maynard also has mentioned that he will have some new announcements in the future along with that he is working with other potential sponsors for the 2024 season that will come with new packages to benefit the drivers and also bringing some sponsors back.
