Due to unforeseen circumstances that are out of our hands and IMCA’s hands, together IMCA and myself, Jake Maynard, worked closely and we have made a decision that will change the schedule outlook for the remainder of the 2024 season for IMCA. The July 13th and September 21st dates that both would have been held at Skyline Raceway Motorsports Park have been moved to new facilities. This is nothing against the track as we thank the management at Skyline for allowing us to originally schedule these events there.
So on July 13th we will now be heading to Thunder Mountain Speedway in Lisle NY for the 2nd annual Billy Ward Memorial presented by Patriot Tank Lines of Weedsport, NY, which remains $1004 to win and $104 to start. We thank the Spoonhower family for welcoming the IMCA class back to the speedway for the first time in 5 seasons. The September 21st date has helped us make the trip to Utica Rome even sweeter. Friday September 20th will be $1000 to win, $125 to start the race. Saturday September 21st will be a cool $2024 to win and $175 to start the race. Thank you to Andrew of Reigel Promotions for the great opportunity for the class to come back to the famed track in Vernon, NY.
“I felt this was in the best interest for the area and our drivers that follow the tour, this decision took a good week of talking over with Jim at IMCA and getting their opinion and we all reached a common ground. We would like thank Brad and his staff at Skyline for the opportunity and wish him nothing but the best.”Maynard said. “After speaking with some drivers around the series and getting some opinions from them, it seemed like the feedback was all positive and that also helped influence the decision.”
We will be looking for sponsorship in the future some for extra awards like best finishing out of PA/NY Region going by average finish of both days and furthest haul bonus for the weekend. This will be the first time that the class has been to the speedway since the 2009 season.
We hope that everyone understands this was a very difficult decision brought upon us as it was not easy but it had to be done. We thank management at each facility for helping us not lose a race for the season and keeping us all racing.
We will see you July 7th at Selinsgrove Speedway for our next scheduled event!
We also want to remind you that the KC Cole Memorial orginally scheduled for May 26th, is still on for July 26th!
Any questions, you can reach Jake Maynard he will gladly answer them for you.
